Cem Melikoğlu graduated from Istanbul Technical University’s Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 1988. With extensive executive experience in maritime, energy, occupational health and safety, and corporate governance, Melikoğlu serves as a consultant at La Mer Law & Consultancy.

During his professional career, Melikoğlu held international positions at ExxonMobil for more than 21 years, covering Europe, Africa and the Middle East, where he worked on management systems and corporate processes in health, safety, environment and security. He subsequently held senior executive positions at Petrol Ofisi and the TANAP Natural Gas Pipeline Project.

Throughout his career, Melikoğlu has worked on developing management systems, occupational health and safety, environmental processes and corporate structuring in the energy and maritime sectors. He has also served on various boards and committees of PETDER and the Chamber of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.

Melikoğlu served three terms as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Turkish Lloyd Foundation between 2015 and 2023, contributing to the organisation’s international development and its work in the maritime sector. In academia, he has taught Occupational Health and Safety at Istanbul Technical University and participated in professional seminars at various universities.

Drawing on his international executive and corporate governance experience across multiple sectors, Melikoğlu contributes to La Mer Law & Consultancy’s advisory work, particularly in maritime, energy, risk management and corporate processes.
